Philosophy for Rebels: Short perspectives that question society's consensus and reason. The defiance of mandated thought.
Philosophy for Rebels 19 - Reflection
Without wisdom, intelligence is a tool without a master.
Wisdom is mastered by reflecting on the past.
Intelligence is our capability or potential for understanding, reasoning, and perceiving the construction and mechanisms of our world. However, intelligence alone does not provide us with the “right” answers to all the things we wish to know. It only gives us possible answers for the outcomes we desire.
This powerful tool, when wielded, can create or destroy, depending on our chosen targets. To determine its proper purpose, we need insights that only emerge from the collective experiences of those who came before us. Intelligence is the potential, wisdom the direction.
“When did you get so clever?"
"When I realized I wasn't as clever as I thought.”
