Lens of Reason 2 - Labels
A label is merely a cage for the mind.
The free mind escapes being defined.
We often like to identify ourselves by some label. It often confers some sense of belonging or direction from which we view the world. It may be a political faction or other ideology. I am a [label] or belong to group [label].
However, once we apply such a label, we will then attempt to align with whatever thinking that label conveys in an effort to be congruent. If we have thoughts that misalign, then we will begin to question our identity and whether or not we are true to the label we project.
We like labels as they give us significance, belonging and purpose. However, they also can take away our agency of fully independent thought.
