Lens of Reason 11 - Boredom
Boredom is the prelude to profound discoveries.
It is the healthy state of mind which precedes moments of deeper introspection of the world.
Some will seek to cure you of your boredom, but they will take from you much more.
Boredom is a state of mind that is always described as an undesirable condition. A place that nobody wants to be. Apparently, it is such a miserable condition we devote our lives to avoiding it and there is no shortage of others who wish to cure you of your boredom with all the mechanisms of wonder the world has to offer.
What if we have all been misled? Instead, periods of boredom are significantly beneficial. A state of boredom is like a small reset for the mind. A moment that offers the opportunity to break old patterns and find something new. Unfortunately, most attempt to escape this condition before the magic happens. The mind begins to reorient itself and explore. Persist through this period and you often will find new insights or interests on the other side.
Being interrupted from your boredom may be the detrimental action we should all attempt to avoid.
“Boredom: the desire for desires.”
― Leo Tolstoy
